Avalon Court takes a trip to Wonderland

Avalon Court Care Home recently held a Summer Fair with a twist, holding a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party where all funds raised were donated to Zöe’s Place Baby Hospice, proudly presenting a cheque for £500.

Zöe’s Place is a local charity providing palliative, respite and end-of-life care to babies and infants in Coventry, Liverpool and Middlesbrough. Money was raised from a tombola, raffle and the generous donations from staff, residents and their families.

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of fun and laughter at the Mad Hatter’s themed fundraiser, participating in a range of activities and traditional games, with magician Jester Styles performing some thrilling magic tricks. Staff decorated the home and donned fancy dress to suit the theme, and the home was joined by some young people from the National Citizen Service, making for a hugely successful and enjoyable day.

Rick Bloomer, Home Manager at Avalon Court, said “It is brilliant for our home and residents to be involved with the community; the Tea Party was a fantastic way to bring everyone together and enhance the lives of our residents. Thank you to all who donated. Everyone at Avalon Court has done a fantastic job at raising so much for a good local cause, and we are all looking forwards to our next big event.”
