Private Respite Care Homes Near You

Are you considering respite services for a loved one? There are many benefits to respite care homes, they offer a comfortable solution for both care providers and residents. Respite care breaks are a great way to ‘sample’ care home life, and to experience the high-quality standard of short-term care on offer. Many residents who undertake a period of respite care end up staying as a permanent care home resident. This can be partly due to the wide variety of recreation and leisure pursuits available at the respite home, and nutritionally balanced, delicious, home-cooked meals prepared by our in-house chefs, as well as the social aspect of care home life – the opportunity to meet new friends.

Our respite care services help families get a taste of the experience of our care home, helping them to make the best choice for their loved one – and we look forward to welcoming you.

What is Respite Care?

So, what is respite care? And what does it involve?

Respite care in a residential or nursing home is a service for people who wish to stay somewhere on a short-term basis. This might include people who need a little extra support whilst recovering from an illness or operation and can last for one week or even a few months. Respite care for elderly people can also be arranged to provide their primary carers with a well-earned rest. This gives residents peace of mind, so that their main concern is getting better as we will look after everything else. As always at Avery, our main priority is our residents’ wellbeing and ensuring that they get the most out of each day they stay with us.

Our inclusive approach to respite care is applied to all our residents – no matter how short their stay is. We aim to ensure your relative maintains their independence and freedom of choice, whilst providing them with the security of around-the-clock support to ensure true peace of mind. If you’re a primary carer for your loved one, our respite care services will enable you to take a well-earned break, safe in the knowledge that your loved one is being taken care of in the best, and safest, way possible. At Avery, we understand how important it is for everyone to take some time out for themselves.

Benefits of Respite Residential Care

We understand how important it is to take a break to relax and recuperate. We want residents who choose respite care with us to feel comfortable and at home, no matter how long they decide to stay with us. We do our utmost to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere, no matter what the circumstance. In the time spent within one of our respite care homes you can expect hearty, nourishing meals, regular daily activities with other residents, and always a warm, welcoming environment that you can rely on.

Visiting Loved Ones During Their Respite Care Stay

Just like our long-term residents, we actively encourage friends and family of those residents in our private respite homes to spend precious moments with those they hold dear. Part of our mission at Avery is to ensure all of our guests feel at home with us. For that reason, we have dedicated spaces for family and friends to join their loved ones for a catch-up over a coffee and cake. We also actively encourage friends and family to stop by to celebrate birthdays and other special moments that aren’t to be missed.  Some of our homes have private dining rooms for special occasions.

You also have the option to visit your loved one in their private respite care bedroom, for those moments when you want some privacy to have a natter. Our chefs are also more than happy to provide in-room meals if you’d like to make the occasion extra special.

How Do I Make the Transition into Full-Time Care?

As respite care is typically on a short-term basis, residents get an insight or ‘taster’ into what life is like living in a care home. We have had many cases, where our residents have felt so comfortable and secure that they chose to live full-time in one of our lovely Avery care homes.

The transition from short to long-term care is usually quicker than applying to a care home without respite care. This is due to the fact that our staff have already gotten to know the resident’s requirements, personality and likes. Not just medically, but on a personal level, there is a rapport already established between our care staff and them. From little things such as having the daily newspaper ready for the resident to enjoy over a leisurely breakfast to what mental and physical exercises benefit them most. It’s also great for residents to see, first and foremost, whether they would actually be happy in a care home environment. It gives them first-hand access to test out the different services and facilities on offer, alongside little things such as whether they enjoy the food or get on well with the other care home residents.
