Knowle Gate Care Home Shine in CQC Inspection

We are proud to announce that Knowle Gate Care Home in Solihull has scored ‘Good in All Categories’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) at a recent unannounced inspection.

The CQC grades the services delivered in care homes in five categories (Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led) and adjudged that Knowle Gate and its staff scored consistently high throughout.

Their CQC report highlighted that “staff had the skills and knowledge to care for residents effectively”. One person said “Nothing is too much trouble for the staff”, another saying “, “I haven’t been here very long but I feel safe here as I am cared for.” A relative commented, “Yes it is secure and safe. It ticks all the boxes. I have only positive feedback; they [staff] have got a lot of things right.”

There was plenty of praise for the staff at Knowle Gate too. One resident told CQC, “Caring comes naturally to them [staff], they really do care”. Commented included, “They are well-trained, especially the nursing staff”, “They are kind to me. I feel fortunate to be here” and, “Lovely staff, very pleasant”. As the CQC report points out, “This made them feel in safe hands”. The staff themselves said, “The people here come first, I love my job”, while another told CQC, “We have high standards, Avery (provider) have set us high standards so far”.

People spoke positively about Knowle Gate, stating that “the food is brilliant,” and praising the social activities, saying “there is plenty to keep me busy”.

Tina Walstrom, Home Manager, was delighted with the result: “Everyone at Knowle Gate has worked hard to get these results and a big thank you has to go to them for their dedication. To gain a Good in all categories from CQC is a great result for the whole home. We have a philosophy and commitment to promoting independence and choice for our residents, supported by the highest quality care. We take into consideration the needs of every individual; it is a home with a difference that offers friendship, engaging activities, and a stimulating lifestyle.”
