All Good at The Hawthorns
We at The Hawthorns in Aldridge were rated ‘Good’ in all categories by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) at a recent unannounced inspection. This is the first time the CQC has rated our service and thanks to the marvellous teamwork and support from owner Avery Healthcare, The Hawthorns has excelled in all categories.
We had such wonderful comments from CQC, extracts included: “Staff were caring and treated people with dignity and respect. People felt involved in their day to day choices and were supported by staff to maintain their independence. People were involved in developing their care records and received care that met their needs.”
Some more extracts stated: “You can do something different each day”, and “We go out on trips, I have taken up playing quizzes, it is good for me”. Another resident told CQC that, “There are all sorts of things going on here you can join in with as many different activities as you want”. Residents also noted that “The staff are very nice” and “[Staff] are respectful”. One member of staff said, “I feel very well supported in my role here, and I feel valued and happy in my job”.
Karen Kay, Sales and Marketing Manager at The Hawthorns, was delighted: “I have been with The Hawthorns since it opened 18 months ago and it’s so pleasing that our hard work and dedication has been acknowledged in this way. The Hawthorns has a philosophy and commitment to promoting independence and choice for our residents, supported by the highest quality care, which is reflected in our CQC report.”
