A stunning contemporary care home in Coventry near Tile Hill, that opened in 2014. Avalon Court Care Home is a thoroughly modern and popular residential care home offering exceptional elderly care and companionship for residents drawn from across the West Midlands.
Standing in a elevated position on Banner Lane, with a commanding view over woodland that originally formed part of the historic Arden Forest, the home proudly announces its stylish credentials at the first sight. The vibrant décor and full length windows of the foyer make a stunning impact on entering and proves a popular spot for residents to relax in too. Our café on the ground floor opens onto a large rear garden and terrace that surrounds the home, another favourite place for residents and their guests.
Bedrooms are equipped with walk-in, en-suite showers, queen-sized beds, DVD players and flat-screen TVs. Communal areas are bright and airy and the top-floor private residential suites have access to a rare and almost unique feature – a large rooftop garden with unhindered views and uninterrupted sunlight.
Dementia care is delivered from our Memory Care Suite. We work closely with families to gain an insight into the life stories of our residents through recollections and family photographs. This enables care plans to be truly person-centred and connected to family members. We also make use of the many resources that the internet can offer for use as reminiscence material.
To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept up to date with all the activities and goings on in the nursing home. Alternatively, call our friendly manager Rick Bloomer on 024 7647 0246 should you have any questions, or you can drop at any time and our front of house team will show you around what is one of the finest care homes in Coventry.
We like to get out and about whether it is a stroll through Bannerbrook woods across the road or just a trip to the local shops. When we are not doing this, you can find us enjoying some fun in our splendid rooftop garden with its amazing views and big sky. Group activities on a wide variety of subjects are conducted in the ground floor cafe or one of our lounges and are a great way to meet fellow residents. There really is something for everyone and guests are always welcome to join in.
See below for a selection of what our Activity Co-coordinators put on for us in their stimulating and interesting programme of daily recreation:
• Visiting the Butterfly Farm
• Yoga in the garden
• Tai chi in the garden
• Planting flowers in the garden
• Holding vintage tea parties
Most residents like to join in the activities with gusto, as we try to devise something for everybody, but it is their choice. We do like to get out of our retirement home and visit local sites of interest as much as we can, Warwick Castle for example, or nearer home, a walk through Bannerbrook woods. Then there’s always shopping, a trip to the local pub, garden centre or the theatre. Our minibus is well recognised throughout Coventry and the surrounding Warwickshire countryside!
Our Hotel Services team work hard with our Culinary teams to develop a dining experience that is of a very high standard. Our chef team takes great pride in delivering a choice of nutritionally balanced, delicious seasonal meals that are thoughtful and beautifully presented.
At Avalon we understand the importance of the dining experience to both residents and their guests. We recently built a private dining room on the ground floor to cater for those special occasions and we also grow our own fresh herbs, with the help of residents, not just to add freshness to our cooking but also to get residents more involved in food preparation.
Between meals we are lucky enough to enjoy a never ending supply of home baking and other tasty treats, served up and freely available in our ground floor cafe and lounges throughout the day.
Avalon Court Care Home recently opened its doors to host a Hollywood Open Day to celebrate the work of our in-house Drama Diva’s Group. Residents, relatives, staff and special guests dressed to impress and were greeted on a red carpet before being seated at their table, stopping along the way to have their photograph taken.…
