A Thriving Northampton Care Home
Avery Healthcare is based, and originated in Northampton, because of this Avery posses a cluster of well established care homes across Northamptonshire. Spencer House is one of those homes, a nursing care home which enjoys a fantastic relationship with the local community and is situated right behind Northampton General Hospital. offering residential, nursing and respite care, as well as more specialist dementia care to residents drawn from across Northamptonshire.
Situated on the Cliftonville Road, our home is modern, bright and airy with lovely surrounding garden areas which we share with our sister home just across the way. You’ll know it by the ‘great glass elevator’ on the outside.
Our interiors are immaculately presented and kept. ‘It’s absolutely beautiful’ is just a typical comment of the residents. And with plenty of lounges, some for congregating in and some for contemplating in, a café and a cinema. Bedrooms are generously sized and come with en-suite walk-in showers, wall mounted TVs and 3/4 size beds – it’s nice to have that extra bit of room, isn’t it? And there’s plenty of space for keepsakes and personal belongings.
We encourage friends and relatives to come along and see for themselves how their loved ones are settling in and getting along. It gives peace of mind, and keeping up connections and learning life histories makes it easier for the staff to develop everyone’s potential to the full.
To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept updated with all the activities and goings on in the home, or call our friendly manager Shweta Mendon on 01604 619960 with any questions you may have or to organise a tour of our Northampton nursing home.Get in Touch
Companionship and Fun
Our program of mental and physical activity is designed to ensure that everyone’s well-being is as good as it can be. It helps newer residents to settle quickly and a great many family and friends regularly partake in our activities and social engagements. We also make a point of keeping tabs on whats happening outside our home and events too. We run a handful of interest groups like our gardening club which is very popular. Other residents take an interest in the night sky and discuss the latest football politics. We often venture forth to the pub to catch a game of football on the telly or for those who like to feel the fresh air on their face, we also have a walking club who enjoy nothing more than a short stroll.
We encourage friends and relations to be actively involved in everything that goes on too, and even to volunteer to come on trips with us in our mini-bus to sites around Northamptonshire. You will often see us buzzing around local parks. As our sister home is right next door, it’s easy to socialise together and make new friends. We are well connected within the community of Northampton — after all we are a local company. Schools, clubs and speakers are regular guests, and our Facebook pages keep everyone up to speed. We find the internet a useful tool when dealing with people with dementia, as it contains so many resources there — so many stories to provoke memories.Contact the Home
Fresh Local Produce
Our residents know what’s what and are growing herbs and edible flowers to give that extra something, not to mention colourful decoration, to their meals. Chefs too like to experiment – for instance with carrots, walnuts and spinach – good for the eyes, so we’re told. All our food is freshly prepared, locally sourced from across Northamptonshire where possible and chimes with the seasons. We can cope with any special diets and are expert in getting poor eaters to build up their strength.
Dining is an integral part of life at our Northampton nursing home, so our chef and his team take great pride in what they serve up and, don’t worry, there’s always a choice. Between meals we are spoiled by home baking and other tasty treats; there’s always fruit as well, if you’re watching the waistline. Family members can feel free to have something to eat when they’re visiting. We think they may have an eye on those aperitifs – a little indulgence before dinner!Find Out More
