Another ‘Good in All Categories’ for Spencer House Care Home
A huge well done and thank you goes to everyone at Spencer House Care Home, as we have been rated as ‘Good in All Categories’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the second time in a row!
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this achievement for a second consecutive time” our Home Manager, Marius Feeney, commented. “It really showcases the high standards we set and the quality of care we deliver here at Spencer House. Thank you to all the team for their hard work and for making a real, positive difference for our residents, as life at Spencer House offers companionship and a stimulating, interesting lifestyle.”
This result maintains the home’s reputation from its previous inspection, demonstrating that Spencer House is a reliable and high-quality residential and dementia care home. The report also had quotes from residents, staff and visitors on how they found our home. Here are some of our favourites:
Residents told CQC they were very happy with the care, with comments like “I have a good relationship with the staff.” One resident said; “It is very good and I feel safe” and another resident said, “I feel safe here; it’s a nice atmosphere with nice staff. You cannot fault them they are wonderful.”
CQC also asked our staff for their opinions, and one team member commented that “Our training taught us how to respect others and provide care as you would wish to be cared for.” Another member of staff said “I like working here, it’s a privilege. It’s a well-run home; the management really do care about the staff.” This was echoed in the rest of the report, as one resident said: “The [staff] treated me better than a queen; I have never had to complain”.
Relatives who were visiting told CQC that “We can visit whenever we want to and we are always welcomed. They are very good at staying in touch with us as well.”
“They look after you here and I feel relaxed and safe.” Said one resident, “…They treat me with dignity and respect.”
Our full CQC report concluded that our beautiful home is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. We couldn’t have done this without the hard work and dedication from the whole team at Spencer House and all our wonderful residents, friends and family who support us.
