Ashurst Mews’ Spectacular Second Birthday

On Friday 17th November, Ashurst Mews Care Home in Moulton celebrated its second Avery birthday in style! The home organised a Black & White Party for residents, staff, friends and families, with everyone getting glammed up for the evening. It was also an opportunity to combine this with an Awards evening where members of staff were recognised for their hard work and dedication.

The evening started with a pop as the bottles of fizz were opened, and the kitchen team treated us to a fantastic buffet. Everyone was dressed in black and white as befitted the theme, and the staff had worked hard on matching decorations even down to black lace facemasks. Entertainment was provided by Mike and Jenny, who led all the residents and staff in a rousing singalong.

Our Home Manager Shweta Mendon had lots of praise for our staff and the quality of our work and decided that there should be some public recognition with Awards at the party. She chose one of the category winners, but the majority were awarded to staff from the staff, from the residents, and also from the families of the residents. This recognition is important as they are accolades won over a period of time, demonstrating a consistency in care and dedication (with possibly the highest award being the one chosen by the staff). To receive acknowledgement from one’s own peer group is both humbling and well earnt.

The categories and winners on the night were:

Managers choice – Maria Ciobanu

Popular choice award – Bindu Marwaha, Tia Harrison

Staff choice award, Overall winner – Catherine Legg

Runner-up – Emel Manea

Residents choice award, Overall winner – Jenny Lawrence

Runner-up – Erin Sheldon

Relatives Choice award, Overall winner – Judith White

Runner-up – Hayley Goode

Presentations were made by Avery’s Commercial Director, Mark Danis and Shweta.

Time has really flown by since Avery acquired Ashurst Mews and set about a complete and thorough refurbishment of our home and an overhaul of the care services provided. A big thank you to all our staff and residents, who make our care home a truly wonderful place to live and work. We are now proud to be one of the very best care homes in the town and outskirts.

We’re already looking forward to our third birthday next year!

We regularly post onto our Ashurst Mews Facebook page, where you can see all the activities, events and trips out we go on. We also celebrated a huge success earlier this year, when Ashurst Mews achieved an overall Good rating from CQC.
