Grove Park Care Home is a short walk from Headingley train station, easily connected to the heart of Leeds, and close to the A660 Otley Road. The home attracts residents from across Leeds and West Yorkshire and offers dementia care in a dedicated Memory Care Suite.
Situated in a quiet wooded valley, overlooking peaceful suburbs and playing fields, Grove Park brings to Leeds and the surrounding areas a home of first-rate quality and style. We are lucky enough to enjoy a cinema for afternoon matinées, a fully equipped hair salon, and a large sun terrace with a grandstand view of the local sports club. There is also a well-stocked library and a relaxing café for residents and their guests.
Our retirement home nurtures an atmosphere of companionship and a quality of living that is hard to match. Resident well-being is our focus, and we work hard to ensure that it’s easy to settle in and that all support is given with professional expertise.
A wide range of healthy exercises, well-balanced and freshly prepared meals, along with daily activities and excursions, all contribute to a life well lived.
Our bedrooms are generously sized, all en-suite with walk in showers and come with DVD players and wall-hung TVs. They are fully furnished, but residents are free to fill them with as many of their personal things as will fit in. Housekeepers keep everything nicely in order.
To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept up to date with all the activities and goings on in the home, or call our manager Lisa Turnbull on 0113 278 9612, who will be happy to answer questions and arrange for a show around.
We are very proud of our beautiful terrace and the busy team of resident gardeners who keep it looking wonderful all year round. Special care is taken over the topiary animals which, along with the shrubs and flowers, raised beds, bird feeders, chimes and herb planters are focal points of home life. Grandstand views of rugby are thrown in! But that’s by no means all. Our team of Activity Coordinators make sure there is something for everyone to be involved with, even if their fingers are not particularly green. For instance:
Creative writing classes
Wildlife webcams to watch
Visits from PAT (Pets as Therapy) dogs
Knitting Nanas that Natter
Arts and crafts sessions
Going out for walks
We believe it benefits everyone’s well-being to be active and mentally stimulated, so there is something going on every day, with a choice of activities on each floor. We make use of reminiscence and sensory-based activities for residents in our Memory Care Suite; visits from local schools, musical entertainers and speakers who talk on a wide range of subjects keep everyone happy. We do our best to support any particular interests residents have, and we make best use of our minibus which gets us out and about to local places of interest. It’s a great way to make new friends.
This is just one of the things our creative head chef can do. Check out the Facebook pages, if you want corroboration! And the artistic coffee creations of our barista are to be seen to be believed. These are a couple of examples of the imagination and care that is put into the fine food that is served daily – a match for any high quality restaurant. The produce is always fresh, bought locally from producers across Yorkshire, chimes with the seasons and we like to consult our residents as to their likes and dislikes and particular favourites. Complaints are few on the ground!
Meal times are much anticipated and happy, sociable occasions. An aperitif on the sun terrace beforehand and a glass of wine with the meal make it a bit more special. A delicious array of cakes and pastries are paraded throughout the day, so there is no excuse for not enjoying a morning coffee or afternoon tea. Private dining is available should residents wish to celebrate a special occasion with loved ones, and residents are free to take meals in the peace of their own room should they choose. Guests are welcome at any time. Check to see if parrots are on the menu first!
