Linda Harrison and Tracey Holberry are regional finalists in Great British Care Awards 2017

Acer Court Care Home in Nottingham is always full of fun and laughter thanks to their fantastic team of staff. This year, Linda Harrison, Activity Co-ordinator, and Tracey Holberry, Senior Carer, won awards in Great East Midlands Care Awards regional finals and were finalists in the Great British Care Awards 2017.

The Great British Care Awards are staged across nine regions in the UK, culminating in the national finals. The GBCA celebrates and promotes best practice in the Care Sector whilst raising the profile of individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. This year, the national finals were staged at a glittering awards ceremony at Birmingham’s ICC and hosted by Martin Kemp.

With twenty years’ experience in the care sector, Linda works exceptionally hard at Acer Court to tailor activities for each individual, which impressed the judges at the 2016 regionals. Linda joined the home in early 2015 and showed great innovation and dedication, leading to her winning the Care Home Activity Co-ordinator Award at the regionals. On getting to the finals Linda said “I’m still a little overwhelmed! The recognition means so much. I love spending time with our residents and I hope this proves that being a resident doesn’t stop you from enjoying yourself and retaining your independence. Thank you to the residents, friends, relatives and all of Avery for supporting us, I can’t wait to see where we go next.”

Tracey began her career at Acer Court as a Care Assistant, but was quickly promoted to Senior Carer in January 2016 after showing great leadership skill. In this year’s finals, Tracey was nominated for the Care Home Frontline Leader Award and was against some fierce competition. “I was in total shock,” Tracey commented, “Acer Court is like an extension of my own family. Getting through the regionals is staggering and I am honoured to be a finalist in the nationals. It’s the recognition of the amazing work we all put in”.

Catherine Bower, Home Manager at Acer Court, said “Everyone at Acer Court is incredibly proud of both Linda and Tracey. They are both hard working, compassionate ladies, who show what it truly means to care by going the extra mile for our residents. It is excellent that their work has been recognised independently and we are all looking forwards to next year’s awards where we’re sure they will succeed again”.

We are incredibly proud of Linda and Tracey here at Avery, as they show exactly how hard working our staff are. Earlier this year, we also had several members of staff  who were winners at the Qube Learning Awards. If you are interested in a career with a difference at Avery, please visit our careers page.
