Linda Harrison wins Award at the Great East Midlands Care Awards 2016

From day trips out to yoga, fancy dress to knitting, Our Activity Co-ordinator Linda Harrison ensures every activity at Acer Court is full of fun and smiles. Linda joined our home in early 2015 and this year we are proud to say that she has won the Care Home Activity Co-ordinator Award at the Great East Midlands Care Awards!

The Great British Care Awards are staged across nine regions in the UK, celebrating and promoting the best practice in the Care Sector. These awards raise the profile of individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work. The regional winners will go forward as finalists to the National Awards in March 2017.

Linda certainly shines in her field, with the judges commenting, “Linda clearly was an inspiration of her hard work and the passion she clearly has for her role”. She competed against six other candidates, bringing excellent examples to her interview and letters from residents and their families. With twenty years’ experience in the care sector, Linda works exceptionally hard to tailor activities for each individual, so the award comes to no surprise from us at Acer Court!

On winning the award, Linda was very proud of the care home’s treatment towards the residents as a whole. She said “It’s fantastic! Being a resident here doesn’t stop you from enjoying yourself and retaining your independence. I love the opportunity I have to get to know all the residents and their interesting stories and history, and we’re looking forward to our next big event – the Christmas Fayre!”.

Catherine Bower, Home Manager at Acer Court, gushed “We’re all incredibly proud of Linda and that her excellent work has been recognised independently. She shows great enthusiasm and care to all our residents. It’s the first time she has been entered for the award, so to win is a brilliant achievement and we all wish her the best of luck at the national awards”.
