Adelaide Care Home is an established and popular home, situated close to Bexleyheath town centre, just off the Broadway. It offers residential, nursing and dementia care to the elderly of Bexley and beyond. We have a long-serving, experienced care team who know the value not only of giving round-the-clock care but also companionship and fun, offering support as well to relatives at what can be a difficult time. We aim to make settling in a new environment as smooth as possible.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own mementoes and keepsakes to their fully-furnished and spacious bedrooms. Our communal spaces are well-thought-out and planned, excellent for group activities, all important dining, and for just being quiet. We aim to cater for all, and everyone is free to take as much or as little as they want. It’s up to the individual. It’s the individual needs that we focus on. We’re not all the same when we’re young, so why should we be all the same when we are old?
We have a beautiful secluded garden which is a real focal point for home life, whether it’s working in the greenhouse or just sitting in the sun having a nice cup of tea. We also have outstanding links with the local community and like to see as many different people coming through our doors as possible.
To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept updated with all the activities and goings-on in the home, or call our friendly manager Shiella Davies on 020 8304 3303. She will be able to arrange a tour for you.
In case you didn’t know, a Starliner is a 1960s’ Ford car, and very stylish too! Residents were lining up to have their photo taken with it at a recent Vintage Tea Party we held. Bet that took them back a bit! Although it’s not such high jinks every day, we do our best to keep minds and bodies occupied and alert. For instance with:
Trips to the stately homes and gardens
Bingo, quizzes and painting
Shopping trips to Bexleyheath Shopping Centre
Football – passing skills if not scoring goals!
Our very popular one-to-one sessions
Getting nails painted
Our full-time Activity Coordinator always finds stimulating things to do and places to visit. The home has its own minibus, which is always ready for an airing. Check out our Facebook pages to see what’s what. We are keen on using modern technology to the best advantage: Skyping keeps friends and family who may be far away in close touch, and iPads are an excellent resource to use in programmes for those with memory loss. All these things contribute to the enrichment of residents’ lives at our Bexleyheath nursing home.
Our resident chef and his assistants have a well-deserved reputation for baking excellence. Home-cooked cakes, pastries and snacks are always available and very popular. But more importantly, our three meals a day are always freshly cooked from the freshest ingredients, locally sourced where possible, and of course nutritionally balanced. Health considerations and dietary needs are taken into account and nothing is too much trouble.
Mealtimes are important social events – food for the soul as well as the body — and we like to make these times as enjoyable as we can. Fresh flowers, wine and an aperitif adds to the occasion. And if it’s a special occasion, it’s a good excuse for a bit of special baking too. Visitors are always welcome to join us and sample the fare for themselves!
Adelaide Care Home, Bexleyheath invited Avery Ambassador, Stage and TV actress, Sherrie Hewson to our Going the Extra Mile event where we were fundraising for The Care Workers Charity (CWC). Taking a spin on going the extra mile, the home decided to dance their miles together with lots of creative dance moves! The home and…
