CQC award ‘Good in All Categories’ to Grove Park

We are excited to announce that Grove Park Care Home in Headingley, Leeds has retained its ‘Good In All Categories’ rating after a recent unannounced Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection. The CQC inspects care homes in five categories; Safe, Effective, Responsive, Caring and Well-led. The inspectors spent two days at Grove Park and decided that our home scored consistently throughout.

Our residents, relatives and staff spent time telling the CQC about their experiences at the home. One resident said, “I feel safe because there is nothing to make you feel unsafe. The staff are very good; very patient.” Our residents gave very positive feedback about the caring nature of the staff and the way they were treated. One told the CQC, “They treat me very well, they are very good. They have a chat with you.” and, “Staff are kind; feel like they are friends, we all have a laugh together.” A family member also commented, “Staff are friendly and nice, my relative likes them.”

Staff told the CQC they were effectively trained and supported to carry out their roles, and how they had put their learning into practice. One member of staff said, “I have had the best training ever, I feel I have learnt so much.” They also spoke about their place of work; “It is great to work in such a nice environment, with a great team. It keeps you motivated to do a good job for people.” Residents and relatives spoke with the CQC about the support they receive to maintain their independence. One family member said, “Staff always encourage [my relative] to do what they can for themselves. It’s important, as they were always so active and proud.”

Visiting health professionals felt that Grove Park delivered good quality care and worked in partnership with them. One commented, “The manager is knowledgeable about the residents and has been very good in helping manage the patient I came to see. The manager has always been willing to act in the patient’s interests and be professional in discussions about care.”

Home Manager Lisa Turnbull said, “It is great that Grove Park has retained our Good In All Categories rating since our previous inspection. We have all worked hard to maintain the rating, and are pleased to see that we consistently reach these high standards within all departments at our home.”
