Ashurst Mews Raises £400 To Build Sensory Room at Fairfields Primary School
A staggering £400 has been raised by Ashurst Mews Care Home to help build a sensory room for the pupils at Fairfields Primary School.
Fairfields School is a school in Northampton for children between the ages of four and 11 who have severe or profound learning, communication, or physical difficulties.
The money was raised during Ashurst Mews Care Home’s annual Summer Fete, a heart-warming event that brought the local community together. The diverse range of stalls, managed by local businesses, staff, visitors, loved ones, and residents, showcased the unity and support within the community.
At the heart of the fundraising efforts were the residents of Ashurst Mews Care Home who exhibited their creative talents by crafting handmade items. Cherly, Chef from Ashurst Mews, made lots of delectable cakes, all of which were sold to raise funds for Fairfields School.
The day was further enriched with games and numerous prizes, all of which contributed to the impressive fundraising total.
Fairfields School were presented with their cheque by Well-Being Coordinator, Georgina McDonald, Well-Being Assistant, Sarah Smith, and residents Gill Abraham and Anne Wales, from Ashurst Mews Care Home. The funds raised will support the school’s efforts to build a new sensory room, a significant addition that will greatly enhance the learning environment for its students. During the visit, they met with Head Teacher, Lesley Elder, and several students were overjoyed about the donation. Lesley expressed her deep gratitude for the £400 donation, stating, “This generous donation will significantly aid in updating the sensory room and greatly benefit the children. I look forward to welcoming Ashurst Mews Care Home residents and staff once the room is complete.”
Anne, one of the residents involved in the fundraising efforts, expressed joy, saying, “Isn’t it extraordinary? It’s such a lovely cause and such a vital reason to raise money.”
“We are so lucky to have this money and to be able to donate it. We had fun raising the money. The staff at Ashurst Mews Care Home did a good job organising it for us all.”
Rebecca Graham, Home Manager at Ashurst Mews Care Home, said, “Our Summer Fete was an incredible success. Every year we look forward to hosting this event and every year it gets better and better. The overwhelming support and involvement from our community filled us with immense joy and gratitude.”
“Seeing everyone join together for such a meaningful cause was incredibly touching. We are eagerly anticipating the positive impact the new sensory room will have on the children’s lives and their education, and we can’t wait to witness their growth and happiness.”
