Branching Out
During the pandemic, Avery Healthcare installed garden pods to facilitate safe visits for residents and their loved ones. Wild Environments installed the luxury pods, each equipped with heating and air conditioning. They boasted comfortable interiors and clear room dividers for residents and families to spend time together without the need to wear masks. Since restrictions were lifted, the pods are no longer required for visits, and many homes who have found they weren’t utilising their pods got creative, re-purposing them to be enjoyed throughout all seasons.
Staff and residents at Crispin Court Care Home in Stafford were delighted to be joined by loved ones, community members and the Mayor and Mayoress of Stafford to celebrate the opening of the Crispin Court Tavern. Also joining the home for the occasion was Operations Director Nicola Doughty, who proudly cut the ribbon to declare the Tavern officially open.
Miramar Care Home in Herne Bay converted its garden pod into a quirky pub called the Happy Buddha, complete with a bar and a dartboard. They hosted an opening party featuring performer Hollie Firmin, who entertained everyone with her rendition of iconic ballads. Meanwhile, Resident Ambassador Doris performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Speaking of the day, she said, “We had a lovely time and enjoyed the opening of the Happy Buddha.”
Alma Court Care Home in Cannock’s pod has been transformed into a charming Courtyard Café, the perfect spot for residents and loved ones to relax, create memories and unwind in the garden. The Café was declared open on Tuesday 15th August and has become a hub of socialisation for residents, friends and family. Staff and residents at Knowle Gate Care Home in Knowle have also unveiled their newly refurbished Garden Room pod, which offers a seamless blend of outdoor charm and indoor comfort. It is thoughtfully equipped with a new coffee machine for a warm brew, tempting biscuits to savour and snug blankets for the cooler moments.
