Hempstalls Hall is the finest of Newcastle Under Lyme care homes and is situated in a quiet suburb of Newcastle-under-Lyme and attracts self-funding residents from neighbouring towns such as Stoke-on-Trent and the rest of north Staffordshire. A spirit of companionship runs throughout our retirement home — it’s the first thing you notice when you enter our reception. But as well as this, we concentrate on approaching each resident in a holistic way, that is nourishing mind, body and soul, and our high-calibre staff are well qualified to do this.
Our care home offers expert dementia care and is innovative in its use of reminiscence as a therapeutic approach. Life stories and family support ensure that residents from this floor enjoy the best possible living and realise their full potential.
Our lounges are light and open with large windows that look out over our garden and the locality. The enclosed rear garden is a perfect spot for capturing the sun and many residents enjoy sitting out on the benches when it’s warm.
Bedrooms are generously sized and all have walk-in showers and flat-screen TVs. We encourage residents to personalise their rooms as much as possible with their own bits and pieces. Having the familiar around them makes a new environment less strange. Some of our rooms have patio doors, which makes for a lovely aspect.
To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept up to date with all the activities and goings on in the home, or call our friendly manager Tracey Evans on 01782 349320 for any further queries you may have. Our front of house team will be pleased to take you on a tour of our care home.
At Hempstalls Hall Care Home we know how important it is for our residents to have an active and stimulating lifestyle. Our dedicated activities team arrange and plan all the daily events, guided by what the residents would like. There’s an accent on music. For instance:
Non-dementia residents are free to come and go as they please, even if it is just a walk around the enclosed garden or to pop to the shops for a paper. We also arrange excursions to the local cinema and theatre for a bit of culture, as well as pub lunches and church services. Our qualified staff are very good at pampering sessions in our beauty parlour and hair salon, and they’re always up for a good old chat at the same time.
For the green fingered, there is a gardening club which is very involved in the planning and planting of the garden and raised beds. If not gardening, then you might find a game of badminton going on, or a spot of cheerleading, waving those pompoms. And if not playing games, then indulging in some home-made ice cream, or a nice cup of tea and a cake.
Hempstalls Hall Care Home is also active in the local community and the residents like to play their part by raising money for local charities and schools.
We make sure our residents have a balanced and nutritious diet. The in-house chef and team prepare all the food daily from fresh, local ingredients and take pride in the menu, often chatting to the residents to make sure they are on track. Residents sometimes hark back to their younger days and ask for dishes they had then, and the chef is happy to provide these, sometimes with a modern twist! There are always tasty home-baked snacks and fruit available through the day.
Mealtimes are the highlight of the day, and with gentle music playing in the background, residents can freely chat about their day and socialise. We serve wine or beer and provide a real sense of restaurant service. Family are also welcome to join us at any time, but they are especially welcome for meals with their relatives.
