Our Tea-riffic Macmillan Coffee Mornings 2018

Cake-tastic everybody! In 2016 Avery Healthcare dough-nated over £6,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support. In 2017 we kneaded to do even batter, so we raised over £6,500 across all of our care homes and independent living locations. This year we have risen beyond expectations and are proud to d’eclair our total of over £7,800 at our Macmillan Coffee Mornings! It’s the largest amount the group have ever raised on a single day for a worthy charity.

This year the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning was held on Friday 28th September, where Avery raised funds for this very worthy charity, helping to make sure that no one faces cancer alone. In the days leading up to the event, residents and chefs worked together to bake some tasty treats, while staff, family and friends also brought their homemade creations along to donate to the charity. It was the yeast we could do!

From Bake Off style competitions to cake-tasting, singing and dancing to chatting over a cuppa, there was plenty of fun, games and giggles at our Macmillan Coffee Mornings! Here’s a look at what we got up to:

We were very proud to present our grand total on behalf of all our Avery care homes and The Hawthorns retirement communities at Loxley Park Assisted Living. Pictured are Helen Hall, Home Manager at Loxley Park, and Hannah Lumb, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Sheffield & Chesterfield.

Thank you to everyone for supporting and contributing to such a worthy cause! We’re very proud of how much we’ve raised together and it’s brilliant to see how much fun everyone had in the process too.

Our Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson joined in with our Macmillan events too! Sherrie joined in with Bee Active at Rowan Court Care Home, enjoyed afternoon tea at Hempstalls Hall Care Home and also visited Hanford Court Care Home. From dancing with residents to catching up over a slice of cake and a cup of tea, Sherrie’s definitely on a roll!
