Care Home Worker of the Year at Derby Heights

Kaleeia Hayer, Senior Care Assistant at Derby Heights Care Home in Littleover, has proved herself the best in Derbyshire after winning the Care Home Worker of the Year Award at the inaugural Derby Telegraph annual awards ceremony.

The award ceremony proved to be a great success. With over 200 guests attending Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium, the best of the county’s carers, volunteers and care homes joined together to celebrate their successes and showcase their hard work. Awards were given to outstanding individuals, acknowledging the community of professional carers and individuals who provide a dedicated daily service.

Working in care runs in Kaleeia’s family, with senior support worker Mum and social worker Dad. Kaleeia herself first became involved in care at 16 when she volunteered at a local home. She relishes her role at Derby Heights, but still finds time to indulge in her great love of fashion. Family is also very important to Kaleeia, and she has recently celebrated moving into her first house with her partner.

Rita Flanaghan, Regional Manager at Avery Healthcare, presented Kaleeia with flowers at a personal presentation at Derby Heights so that residents and staff could join in the celebrations. Rita commented, “Kaleeia is an exceptional carer, who has a warm and genuinely caring approach to her work. She is well regarded by residents, families, and colleagues alike because of her friendly personality. Kaleeia is motivated, enthusiastic, and always keen to improve her knowledge and skills – she will go far in her career!”

Kaleeia was overwhelmed, saying, “Winning the award is a massive personal achievement – I am only 21 and I feel honoured to have even been nominated for the award”.

Avery Healthcare prides itself on developing compassionate, dedicated and professional staff, and Kaleeia certainly exemplifies these qualities. Well done Kaleeia – we are all incredibly proud and lucky to have you as part of Team Derby Heights.

Kaleeia joins a host of other Avery Healthcare staff who have proved themselves as outstanding. This year, Avery cleared up at the Qube Learning Awards, Louise Whiston, Healthcare Assistant at Newcross won ‘Outstanding Achiever’, as well as Elizabeth Whitehouse at Hempstalls Hall who won Qube Young Apprentice of the Year.
