Stepping Up to the Challenge

Our Big Event Days are a time when we all come together in our care homes to support great causes, connect with our local communities and, most importantly, have fun!

During 2018, we helped fund-raise for charities including Dementia UK, The Care Workers Charity, The Royal British Legion, Macmillan, National Care Home Open Day and Heads Together and we are delighted to announce that we raised over £18,400 in combined total!

From the cold and snow making our Tea Party events in March a challenge to scorching Summer Cocktail Parties in July, our events were a riot of creativity, fun and laughter.

They included car washes, sponsored walks, plenty of dancing, singing, dressing up and of course, tea and cake! Each event saw donations pour in and we are thrilled that everyone had such fun participating.

Notable success came in September when we raised over £7,800 as a group at our Macmillan Coffee Mornings, the largest amount the group have ever raised on a single day. Whilst tea and donations flowed, Bake Off style competitions, singing and dancing took place, and homemade creations were eaten; it was clear to see the tremendous work leading up to the event from residents, chefs, family and friends alike had paid dividends.

John Strowbridge, Avery’s Managing Director, was full of praise for all involved. “A huge thank you to each and every member of staff, resident, family member, friend and community supporter that helped such worthy fundraising campaigns throughout 2018 and raise this incredible amount. We truly appreciate everyone’s efforts and hope that the three Big Event Days we have planned in 2019 will be even bigger and better!”
