Raising Awareness in Dementia Action Week 2022 – Avery

Following the success of last year’s events, we’re preparing for Dementia Action Week 2022. Throughout the week we’ll be running a range of activities, each designed to increase awareness amongst those providing support for people affected by dementia, as well as promoting best practice when it comes to providing care.

We’ll be encouraging residents of our care homes to get involved in all our Dementia Awareness Week activities, which will be happening each day over the next week.

When is Dementia Awareness Week 2022?

This year’s Dementia Awareness Week campaign will begin on 16 May and finish on 22 May.

What is Dementia Action Week?

Created by the Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia Action Week is a national campaign designed to increase awareness of dementia, its symptoms, and what people can do to help themselves or loved ones affected by it.

Each year, Dementia Action Week has a theme that shapes the week’s activities, with this one being diagnosis.

The theme of diagnosis was chosen after the Alzheimer’s Society saw a sustained fall in the number of people being diagnosed with dementia for the first time. The aim is to increase the understanding of dementia symptoms amongst people who live with or have a loved one that might be living with undiagnosed dementia.

Keep an eye on our blog throughout the week, or follow our Facebook page to find out more about what we’ll be doing each day to raise awareness.
