Staff at Acacia Lodge Care Home, in Manchester, have received their Playlist for Life Accreditation at a virtual ceremony, hosted by Heather Perkins – Avery’s Dementia Support Advisor.
Well-being and activities staff noted how incorporating Playlist for Life into the work they carried out with resident Bernice gave them a deeper understanding of how music works and how music evokes a resident’s well-being.
The staff were pleased to see how well a personalised playlist had made such an impact on Bernice and her overall well-being, one song, in particular, being, ‘How Great Thou Art’. They said, “It was so powerful and beautiful to have shared such an emotional time with Bernice. We have laughed and cried tears of sadness and happiness”.
