Stunning turnaround in Latest CQC Report
“They (staff) are all so kind and caring. It brightens my day whole day when they stop for a chat.”
This is just one of many lovely comments about Pemberley House Care Home in Basingstoke, following a recent unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Thanks to all our hard work and dedication, we are proud to announce that we have scored a Good in All Categories, and our report is full of glowing quotes from residents, staff, families, and visitors.
The CQC grades the services delivered in care homes in five categories (Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led) and adjudged that Pemberley House and our staff scored consistently high throughout. Under the previous operator, our home had been assessed as Requires Improvement, with one category rated as Inadequate, so this result is a stunning turnaround.
Here are some more highlights from our report:
The CQC highlighted that ‘People benefitted from a well-managed and organised service,’ and that people ‘were treated with dignity and respect at all times.’
One person said, “Staff go out of their way to make our lives more fulfilled, especially the new activities staff.” Another person said how they enjoyed being able to get together at “The Gentleman’s Club” and enjoyed going out on group outings with friends.
A relative said, “All the staff are so welcoming and you can visit whenever you want”. Visiting relatives also told CQC, “There is a lot more energy and imagination being used to fill people’s lives with meaning and fun” and one resident mentioned that “The nurses and carers couldn’t be better.” When asked what made the staff ‘special’ one person told CQC, “It’s just how they make me feel. They make such a fuss of me”.
Janet Varndell, Pemberley House Home Manager, (pictured with her team) was delighted. “We have a philosophy and commitment to promoting independence and choice for our residents, supported by the highest quality care here at Pemberley House. We take into consideration the needs of every individual; we are a home with a difference that offers friendship, engaging activities and a stimulating lifestyle.”
