Mayor of Wolverhampton Visits Newcross Care Home

To mark its 10th anniversary of opening, Newcross Care Home in Wolverhampton hosted a safe garden visit from Councillor Greg Brackenridge, the Mayor of Wolverhampton.

In line with government guidelines, Councillor Brackenridge sat down with Newcross resident Kevin in the home’s outdoor visiting pod for a cup of tea and a chat. Kevin recalled how charming he thought Mr Mayor was, commenting, “We had a delightful conversation. Made even better with tea and cake.”

Speaking with Paul Hipwood, Newcross’ R&L Officer, Councillor Brackenridge learnt of the home’s fundraising plans for The Care Workers’ Charity – Going the Extra Mile Week (5th – 9th July 2021), including a staff and resident car wash taking place at the home on Friday 9th July, from 11 am – 4 pm. Paul said, “The mayor was extremely engaging, and we could’ve spoken for hours and hours.”

Mr Mayor also expressed his sincere thanks to the home for their hard work during what has been an incredibly challenging period for the healthcare sector and looks forward to visiting again soon.
