Managing Director Awards for James and Lee!

Whether an employee has worked with Avery for 20 years, or they show great passion and dedication towards their work, Avery likes to reward its staff members that demonstrate a commitment to the company. Managing Director John Strowbridge recently visited Clayton Manor Care Home in Congleton and Scholars Mews Care Home in Stratford-upon-Avon to surprise two staff members and congratulate them on their incredible contributions and for being valued team members.

Lee Van Der Kraan

Lee started working at Clayton Manor in 1999 and is a Senior Carer on our Memory Care Unit. He was delighted to hear that Managing Director John Strowbridge was visiting the home to present a Long Service Award to him along with a generous gift to say thank you for all of his hard work. Lee is very friendly and easy to get on with, and all the residents love him. Outside of work, Lee is a family man and spends a lot of time with his mum, sister, nephews and nieces.

James Chamberlain

James joined Scholars Mews in November 2015. He is not only the Maintenance Operative at Scholars Mews, but an excellent ambassador for Avery’s ethos of caring for residents overall well-being and ensuring activities are relevant. All the residents know James and his friendly interactions with them cannot be underestimated. James also supports the housekeeping and well-being teams; he regularly helps to hoover and also hosts a weekly quiz night, which is a singing quiz. James starts to sing a song, the residents then join in and try to name the artist. They all love it! James will also help set the dining room tables and does an excellent job of everything he turns his hand to.

James works closely with one resident, Derrick Payne, on redecorating the home. Derrick used to be a painter and decorator, and James noticed that talking about refurbishing the home lifted Derricks spirits, and thought he might like to help with the decorating. Derrick recently assisted James in redecorating two corridors. They also painted the garden furniture, a lovely blue and green over the summer. Their next job is the entrance foyer!
