Fun with Facebook – Summer Fayres

We’re incredibly proud of all the events we host at our homes. They truly reflect how care homes should be – open, vibrant and places to have plenty of fun! Our care homes captured this at their Summer Fayres, sharing their best photos on their Facebook pages.

Acer Court and Alder House celebrated an incredible Summer Bonanza, supporting their local charity Action for Young Carers. With live bands, pony rides, a bucking bronco, bouncy castles, stalls, games and some incredible raffle prizes, their event photos were a riot of colour and certainly showed off their success with over 300 guests attending!

Some of our care homes took a twist on a traditional fair. Amarna House decided to host a Pirate Party, in full costume, whereas Seagrave House donned their best cowboy boots for a Country and Western Summer Fair. Newcross’ Summer Fête included their annual Dog Show too. You can tell everyone got into the spirit of the day from their fabulous Facebook photos.

Many of our homes supported local charities at their Summer Fayres. Avalon Court had huge success, raising an incredible £909 for several charities close to their hearts. Milton Court included some creative games at their fayre, a particular favourite being their Home Manager put into the stocks!

We think you’ll agree that we’ve continued to show the benefits of using social media to share the wonderful lifestyle of our residents, especially for family far away or unable to visit easily.

This issue’s top tip is to interview a resident. Using all our previous top tips on staging a video effectively, take the time to ask residents to tell you a review on a book or film, summarise a recent favourite trip out, or even recall a memory from their childhood. Not only does this celebrate our residents, but it promotes conversation on your social media pages and gives everyone the chance to join in.
