Birchmere Mews Care Home Celebrate Playlist for Life Accreditation

Company News, Birchmere Mews

Birchmere Mews Care Home, in Knowle, Solihull, has received its Playlist for Life accreditation. At a virtual showcase, hosted by Heather Perkins, Avery’s Dementia Support Advisor, staff members Dani and Charlie presented their experiences of using personalised playlists for resident Pat over the past several months.

Dani Aitkenhead, Well-being and Activities Assistant, commented, “We had enthusiasm from the off-set. Not only did personalised music create a more calming atmosphere for Pat, but helped her maintain a more solid routine, joining in with meals and activities”.

Staff at Birchmere Mews noted that the use of technology was a massive help in incorporating playlists into Pat’s daily routine. The access to iPads broadened opportunities to connect with Pat’s family.

Joining the virtual call was Julie Spencer, Avery’s Care and Quality Director. She said, ‘It’s absolutely brilliant to see the work you’ve done. You’ve embraced the whole philosophy of Playlist for Life”.
