Aye, it’s Burns Night

Company News, Brentwood Arches

Our homes embraced the spirit of the Highlands for their Burns Night celebrations on the 25th of January, honouring Scotland’s most iconic poet, Robert Burns. His most well-known poems include, ‘To a Mouse’, ‘Address to a Haggis’, and the traditional New Year’s anthem, ‘Auld Lang Syne’, which is still sung across the world today.

Residents at Brentwood Arches Care Home in Brentwood immersed themselves in traditional Scottish cuisine, enjoying haggis, neeps, and tatties washed down with a refreshing glass of Irn Bru and Scotch Whisky. Resident Maureen said, “I can’t remember the last time I heard the bagpipes! It was a very entertaining afternoon.”

Over at Ashurst Mews Care Home in Northampton, residents donned their best tartan and tested themselves on their knowledge of Scotland, all while enjoying front-row seats to musician Rod, the Northampton Piper. The day was filled with Scottish pride and tradition that was nostalgic for many.
