Avery Awards Celebration 2019
Celebrating the excellence and hard work of staff should be an integral element for all organisations. At Avery, we have acknowledged contributions across our company with long-service awards, MD awards and other staff incentives, and have for many years done well in independent care sector awards for both the organisation and individuals. However, we had never organised an opportunity for peers from across all departments, care homes, supporting roles and The Hawthorns to come together to celebrate… until now!
On Tuesday 30th April, Avery Healthcare held its first annual Care Awards at a glittering ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Stadium MK, Milton Keynes, giving personal recognition to its employees. Recognising care staff, home manager, trainers, culinary, housekeeping and maintenance, our MD John Strowbridge hosted the evening and was assisted in the presentations with TV and stage actress, and Avery Ambassador, Sherrie Hewson. Wandering Soul, a fantastic four-piece band, played before and after the event.
A large part of what made the event so special was that staff had been nominated by their peers for the awards, which is as strong an accolade as you can get! The nominations came pouring in from across all our care homes and services, with glowing recommendations from residents, fellow staff, visitors and families. This certainly made it a tough decision for our judges! Nevertheless, here are the winners for each award:
Home Manager:
Joanna Roberts at Acacia Lodge Care Home
Carer:
Emma Foy at Newcross Care Home
Dementia Carer:
Harpreet Chahal at Derby Heights Care Home

The judges had a tough task picking winners in all the categories due to the high levels of competition. For two of the awards, Team and Lifetime Achievement, the judges took the exceptional decision to select two winners in both categories:
Team:
Adelaide Care Home
and
The Hawthorns Northampton
Lifetime Achievement:
Andrea Feeney, Regional Manager at Avery Healthcare
and
Shelley Parker-Wain, Head of Training and Development at Avery Healthcare
Avery as a company is very proud of the high quality of their staff and how many award winners have also developed their careers in Avery, benefiting from the company’s strong focus on staff training and development.

Well done to everyone who was nominated once again and thank you for continuing to prove we have some of the best staff in the care sector.
