Avery Wins Healthcare Investor’s Care Provider of the Year 2016

Avery Healthcare won the Residential Care Provider of the Year at the 2016 Health Investor Awards

Held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on June 15th. The annual event is a celebration of those who invest in, advise, lend to and operate in the health and social care markets. Residential Care Provider of the Year is a prestigious award in a competitive category and recognises many aspects of an operator’s business.

2015 was a defining year for the Avery Healthcare Group in several ways; the judges were impressed with Avery’s sector-leading growth and development, driving standards for enhanced resident life experience, and structured training and careers development.

Some of the major landmarks achieved by this innovative group in the last year were the introduction of its Hotel with Care concept and the development of a comprehensive and unique Well-being Programme. A sector-leading Apprenticeship Scheme and an Advanced Carer Programme demonstrate Avery’s focus on staff development and training, with a full set of structured career pathways for all roles. Avery was the first care sector provider to introduce an Integrated Governance model that covers all the aspects of good governance; to be safe, effectively run, and customer focused.

Avery also developed a portfolio for all nurses to support their revalidation, supported by clinical networks, nurse-qualified Regional Managers and other senior nurses within the company. In 2015 Avery became the first social care provider to work in conjunction with the Department of Health to pilot an independent nurse prescriber in one of its care homes. This role will inform future skill mix reviews within the group, utilises nurses more effectively, reduces pressure on GP services, and improves outcomes for residents.

Acquisitions from HC-One and the Restful Homes Group have required significant investment to ensure suitability for Avery’s premium service offering, and the company’s own development programme also added brand new locations during the year; both of these initiatives continue in 2016 and beyond.

The judges commented:

“In a very competitive category, Avery’s ability to bring new life to older properties, whilst at the same time extending its luxury offering thereby continuing to push boundaries and raise customer expectations, served Avery well in 2015. This approach helping it to maintain the Group’s reputation at being at the forefront of sector design and innovation. A position underpinned by its investment in staff, IT, and fine dining catering services.”

What a terrific result for all of us. This award is testament to the dedication of all our staff across all our homes, something with which we are very proud. Well done everyone.
