Avery Raises Over £5,000 for Charity

This June, all of Avery Healthcare’s care homes worked together to raise a staggering £5,451.16 for two influential charities. Each care home staged two wonderful events; one for National Care Home Open Day and the other for Armed Forces Day, with a great range of fun filled activities to suit each theme. On both days we were raising money for two charities – Age UK and Help for Heroes.

We are proud to say that both events were a huge success, with residents, staff and their respective families and friends all joining in as we raised as much as we could for these great causes.

The first cheque of just over two thousand pounds was presented to Age UK at Birchwood Grange Care Home in Harrow by Home Manager Mark Bird and UK Operations Manager South, Lisa Soper. Lisa commented, “The homes had a lovely afternoon holding their own personalised al fresco picnics as we welcomed families, friends and the local community to enjoy some fabulous food and cocktails together. The event’s ‘Friendship’ theme was a great success! We always encourage our homes to be involved with their local communities as an important part of building and maintaining relationships. There was so much happening throughout our homes – teddy bear picnics, silent auctions, magic shows, soft archery, and even a visit from some baby goats!”

Avery’s newly acquired home, Knowle Gate Care Home, hosted the second cheque presentation to Help for Heroes for over £3,400.

The total was raised through bake sales, raffles, tombolas, and selling the iconic Help for Heroes pins. The hashtag #SaluteOurForces shared some brilliant photos and information across social media which raised awareness for the great cause.

Sharon Winfield, Director of Operations for Avery Healthcare said, “We are very proud of how all our homes get involved to help fundraise for worthy charities. It is lovely to see so many people come together from the community to join and support the fun events that our homes organise. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped raise such incredible amounts.”

In just this year alone, Avery homes have also helped raise £5,000 during Dementia Awareness Week, and raise over £6,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Thank you to everyone who got involved – we hope to see you at our next big event!
