Scholars Mews Care Home in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire is a stunning residential care home in the heart of the historic town, with the famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Tudor houses and the river Avon only a few minutes away.
Offering residential and dementia care, Scholars Mews was completely refurbished in 2016 and is cleverly hidden behind a row of terraced houses, and is in keeping with the distinctive characteristic of Scholars Lane. Our retirement home is accessed through a gateway that leads cars to the rear of the home.
All the generously sized bedrooms come with standard size beds, en-suite wet rooms, wall-mounted TVs, and can be personalised as the residents like. Housekeepers keep everything spick and span. Scholars Mews benefits from a luxurious cinema, with a touch of the 1930s about it, numerous spacious and comfortable lounges, a hair and treatment salon, and elegant dining areas.
Our staff provide the highest quality of care and are always available with an ear to bend or a hand to hold. We concentrate on the needs of the individual, are interested in their lives and encourage as much communication with friends and family as possible. We have Wi-Fi throughout the home and can keep residents up to speed with Skype and Facebook.
Please call our front of house team or our friendly home manager Sharon Wassing on 01789 297589 if you have any further queries or if you would like a show around the finest of care homes in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Friendships don’t have boundaries here; they exist across all levels — between staff, residents, friends and families and the neighbouring Avery care homes. We even extend the hand of friendship to the bees as we have planted bee-friendly plants in our lovely enclosed garden. Our friendly team of Activity Coordinators also arrange excursions locally in our mini-bus:
Making ice cream sundaes
Weekly baking
Visits to the local Stratford-upon-Avon churches for recitals
Regular entertainers
Themed activities to celebrate public holidays
New and classic films in our 1930’s themed cinema
Harp recitals
Picnics across Warwickshire
So there is always plenty to do, keeping mind and body active and not too creaky. We take note of residents’ interests, and where appropriate encourage them to share hobbies and knowledge with others. We enjoy occasional trips out shopping, a visit to the local pub or just a stroll by the Avon. Stratford-upon-Avon is always alive with visitors and our residents enjoy the buzz of town, its theatre and impressive heritage.
We have a fully equipped cinema room which seats large groups of residents for afternoon matinées, or sessions of shared reminiscences with residents from local towns such as Leamington Spa and Redditch, and we make a point of involving ourselves in the local Stratford-upon-Avon community. Recently we raised money for Avon Cat Rescue. Is that because we are called Scholars Mews?
Our food is so good that once a month we open up the Scholars Mews Bistro to the over-sixties, when a delicious three-course lunch is on offer. And very reasonable too! But the chef sees to it that all our meals are delicious, healthy, balanced and always cooked from fresh on the premises. There’s plenty of choice at every meal and no one need worry if they have a special diet as it will be catered for. We’re quite good at tempting fussy eaters too.
Cakes and pastries are the chef’s special forte – check out our Facebook pages and see for yourself, so coffee time and tea time are as much anticipated as lunch and dinner. Eating together is fun and sociable and induces a convivial buzz of conversation. Maybe the aperitif and the glass of wine we offer with the meals helps things along, so why don’t you come and see for yourself – whether you’re over or under sixty!
