A Fine Cannock Care Home
Abbey Court Care Home at Heath Hayes, Cannock, Staffordshire offers the luxury feel of a hotel in a care environment. This purpose-built home has 67 spacious single bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities together with four companion rooms for friends or couples to share. Abbey Court residents can choose from several separate bright and spacious lounge and dining areas, so there are plenty of spaces for socialising as the residents wish.
The bedrooms have been tastefully designed in stylish combinations of colour, comfort and homeliness. All are fully furnished and residents are encouraged to have their familiar and personal mementoes around them. Many of the ground floor rooms have doors on to patios, which give them a more open aspect.
We realise that moving in to a home is a big step and can be somewhat intimidating when not in the best of health or having problems with memory. At Abbey Court we do our best to reassure relatives that we treat our residents as whole people, and help them to have as full a life as possible. Round-the-clock-care sets minds at rest.
We use modern technology to best advantage. The internet can be a great resource – YouTube, for instance for rediscovering historical events and aspects of past life which help to stimulate those with memory loss. And it’s surprising who can learn to manipulate an i-pad!
To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept updated with all the activities and goings on in the home, or call our friendly manager Dawn Whitehouse on 01543 277358 and arrange a tour of our care home.
Laughter is the best medicine…
Life at Abbey Court is stimulating and active and we are keen to involve relatives and friends as much as possible, encouraging them to join the committees that steer home life. The more the communication, the better the care and attention. Our Activity Coordinators are enthusiastic in devising a wide programme of activities and entertainment suited to each person’s needs; crafting and doing armchair exercises are popular. Furry and strokeable animals are always a hit. Not quite so sure about the snakes though! We regularly hold religious services and are always keen to foster new links with the local community.Contact the Home
A Spoon Full of Sugar
We take eating seriously and realise that appetites can be different when old age sets in and sometimes a little extra tempting is needed. We can cater for any special diet and offer alternatives to what is on the menu, if a resident prefers. There is always a choice at every meal and we aim to do our best with fresh food that is imaginatively prepared, locally sourced and following the seasons. Needless to say, it is nutritionally balanced.
There’s always a range of freshly baked cakes and pastries, savoury snacks and fruit and drinks available throughout the day. Birthdays are treated seriously too and special treats and cakes will turn up on those days, when relatives and friends are invited to come along and join in the fun with us. Dining together is a great opportunity to enjoy time and conversation with other residents, so we make sure to have a beautiful, enjoyable atmosphere in our dining rooms. Come and see for yourselves.
