Cliftonville Care Home in Northampton is known as a friendly and vibrant community of care for the elderly. Our state of the art, purpose-designed building offers the perfect environment for our residents, where they can expect expert residential, dementia, nursing and respite care. Avery Healthcare is itself a long established Northampton care company with a number of residential care homes across Northamptonshire.
We choose our friendly, approachable staff for their warmth and empathy as well as for their professional excellence, so friends and families can rest assured that their loved one are being well cared for. The atmosphere is both relaxing and sociable, with plenty of opportunity to get together with other residents, or just go somewhere quiet if preferred. Our sister home, Spencer House, is just across the road and we often share trips and events together as well as the lovely garden. Our cinema room is well used for afternoon matinées, and there is also a fully equipped beauty salon and therapy room for those who like a bit of pampering. And who doesn’t?
Our stylish bedrooms are generously sized and all come with walk-in showers. The housekeepers look after the rooms beautifully and carefully dust round the photos and keepsakes that residents like to put on display. We make great use of mementoes and memories in our approach to dementia care and like to involve friends and relations as much as possible. Our doors are always open!
If you should have any further queries then please call our home manager Marius Feeney on 01604 238850. A show around of the home is also easily arranged through our front of house team.
Introducing Our Pink Ladies
No, we’re not talking about cocktails, it’s what some of our residents call the Activity Coordinators, as they are quite distinctive in their pink uniform. These ladies initiate, foster and encourage the home’s lively leisure schedule. You would expect knitting and gardening to be on the list, as they are, but here are a few things you might not have anticipated:
- Weekly carpet bowls tournament –nothing like a bit of friendly competition!
- Choir practice
- Nintendo, Wii and Xbox – What! Old people!
- Bird watching at the local reservoir
- Country and Western nights
- Tap dancing lessons – I don’t believe it!
We have a large screen in our cinema room and matinée afternoons are always popular. We often think back to the occasion when a resident could join in with her granddaughter’s wedding in Australia, by watching the whole event, together with a commentary, on the big screen TV. A magical moment, and shows how modern technology is put to best use. We are really keen to facilitate Skype links, but we also have real links, rather than virtual, with the local community and enjoy performances from local schools, entertainment groups and Age UK, who arrange classical recitals for us. Have a look at our Facebook page to keep up to date.

Anyone for Pomegranate Cheesecake?
This cheesecake was one of the prizes our chef baked when we had one of our fete days. Alex, our head chef, has been with Cliftonville since it opened so certainly knows how to treat the residents, in more senses than one! He has created a team who take pride in catering for all tastes and diets, and who enjoy making excellent spreads for special events. There are regular Ready Steady Cook competitions with Spencer House which are great fun. Cliftonville won the last one!
Residents are actively encouraged to contribute to the planning of weekly menus. Meals are beautifully presented and served in the home’s bright and modern communal dining area and families are welcome to join us at any time; we can arrange for private dining on special occasions too.
In addition to our set meals, residents can enjoy a selection of freshly baked cakes, chocolates and aperitifs throughout the day, so no one has any excuse for going hungry with us.Read More
