Lavender Lodge Care Home is well known in Farnborough as it has been serving the local and wider Hampshire community for the last 30 years. It offers residential, dementia and nursing care and has developed an excellent reputation with the general public and referral sources across Farnborough and the county. Our staff are both passionate about their roles and compassionate in their care.
All our bedrooms are spacious and have plenty of room for the special keepsakes and belongings that make the room your own. Our lounges are happy places to be in too, whether to join in one of the many activities with others or to sit quietly with a book or newspaper.
That is not say we don’t have screens. We have found that using the internet and iPads yields a wealth of resources, especially for conjuring up memories, a very useful tool for those with memory loss. And if relatives live abroad or cannot visit very often, Skyping is a great option. Don’t worry, we are clued up and able to convince residents of the benefits of modern technology!
We have a lovely garden and use it, when the weather is good, for exercising, gardening and sometimes for just having a nice cup of tea and a cake.
To see what we get up to you at our nursing home might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept updated with all the activities and goings on in the home, or call our friendly Home Manager Shelley MacDonald, who is always happy to answer any questions you may have. Please call us on 01252 517569 and our front of house team will be happy to show you around.
You’re never too old to join in the fun. We make sure that life doesn’t come to a halt just because you’re in a care home. Our energetic Activity Coordinators are there to make life as stimulating and varied as possible. For instance, you can:
Have your face painted
Grow tomatoes
Indulge in a cream tea
Plant out petunias
Stroke a pony
Make a bug house
Dance to sounds of the 60s and 70s (even if it’s only in your chair!)
Your well-being is our goal and we do our best to cater for all, build on strengths and encourage new interests. Life is a journey and we like happy travellers! Talking of which we like to get out and about as much as possible and visit all manner of local hotspots, whether it’s a trip to the theatre or just a Sunday lunch down at the pub.
Family and friends can keep in touch with what is going on through our Facebook page, which contains videos of the day’s events and tells them what is coming up. They’re always welcome to join us.
Dining is an integral part of life at Lavender Lodge. We recognise that eating is a focal point of the day and much anticipated. So our chef and his team take pride in cooking up delicious meals and giving residents good choices, though some will always stick to their favourites. Eating what they have grown themselves, like the delicious tomatoes and lettuces from the garden, always adds a bit of interest.
We recognise that feeding the elderly can be tricky at times as palates change and appetites wane. So the kitchen team is always ready to listen to residents’ preferences and if there is something that they really fancy, will do its best to oblige at any time. And yes, breakfast in bed is always an option! We encourage healthy eating and always have fruit and savoury snacks available, but many won’t be able to resist the fresh cakes and pastries that are baked every day! And they taste even better when you’re enjoying them in good company.
