Dukes Court Care Home in Wellingborough is one of Northamptonshire’s most popular care homes, offering residential and dementia care and an excellent and well thought-out standard of retirement living. It’s one of our newest homes, opened in 2015, so you can be sure it is purpose built to the highest specifications – the very finest of Wellingborough care homes.
We’re situated on the outskirts of town on the Northampton Road and within easy reach of local shops and buses into the town centre. Residents are free to come and go as they please and get involved with the life of the home as much or as little as they want, although there aren’t many that just spend their time sitting around! We like our residents to lead companionable and fulfilled lives, and much of our time is spent sharing memories and enjoying the company of others.
Each of our residents brings something unique to home life, and we make a point of getting to know their personal interests and hobbies, and encourage them to find new ones as well. Home life is richer for it. We appreciate that settling in is sometimes a challenge and we work hard to ensure that everyone feels at home as quickly as possible.
We have a two-tiered courtyard garden behind the home, a perfect spot to soak up the evening sunshine. Our en-suite bedrooms come in different sizes from companion suites, through to larger ground floor rooms with access to our gardens. All have walk-in showers and plenty of room for personal bits and bobs. You’ll find residents chin wagging in the ample lounges and socialising over their meals in the dining room, and we welcome family and friends to join us at any time.
To see what we get up to you might want to view our dedicated Facebook that is kept updated with all the activities and goings-on in the home, or call our friendly Manager Heidi Smith on 01933 445690 if you have any further questions or would like to view our care home. Out front of house team will be happy to show you around.
If you are seeking a Northampton Retirement Home then please visit our new Hawthorns development in Upton, Northampton. The home will offer retirement apartments to residents who do not require care.
You’ll find some of our company down at the pub watching football from time to time, and why not? And some us out on shopping trips or being ladies who lunch, and why not? But there’s always something going on in the home as well. We like to cater for body and soul!
For instance:
Visits from puppies and owls
Scoffing ice cream in the garden on a sunny day
Listening to a ukulele orchestra
Admiring the art of a magician
Keep fit and dancing
A visit from Elvis – that Elvis, he gets everywhere!
Cub scouts telling us how things have changed in scouting world
We welcome the community to us, but we also look outwards as well and put on fundraising activities for local charities. Family members are encouraged to join in with these efforts, if not in reality then virtually through our Facebook pages which we update regularly. We also have residents’ and family committees that help us steer home life. Tending the garden is a popular activity.
Social media is a good connector and is of special benefit when dealing with those who have dementia. We have realised that the more the communication, the better it is for all concerned.
Not all our vegetables can be taken from our garden, but Chef is always casting his eye over our beds to see what is available. After all you can’t get much fresher than that. But if not from the garden, then the vegetables and all our food, ice cream excepted perhaps, is as fresh as it can be, sourced locally from across Northamptonshire and cooked in our kitchen.
Food and dining is a critical part of life at Duke’s Court and we think that our dining experience matches that of any good restaurant. You’ll find all the traditional favourites on the menu, but the more exotic such as curries and goulashes as well. At mealtimes the room is filled with happy chatter and guests are quite welcome to join us. Come for an aperitif or glass of wine!
When the weather permits, we love a nice cuppa in the garden with some of Chef’s freshly baked cakes and pastries. Healthy savoury snacks and fruit are always on offer through the day as well.
Whilst many of us have reluctantly been coming to terms with home beauty regimes in an attempt to maintain our longer locks and chipped nails, our lucky residents have continued to be pampered in the safety of our homes. Dukes Court residents have been proudly showing off their new hair-dos from Well-being and Activity Co-ordinators…
Dukes Court Care Home in Wellingborough recently held a Staff Awards Ceremony and invited Avery Ambassador, Stage and TV actress Sherrie Hewson to assist Home Manager, Heidi Smith, in presenting the awards. Prior to our event, residents and relatives nominated their favourite staff members for a variety of awards, such as Favourite Carer, Best Newcomer…
This January we received the results from our latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection and we are very proud to say we have achieved ‘Good in All Categories’ for the second time! The result maintains our consistently high rating from our previous inspection, truly proving that we are a reliable and high-quality care home for both…
