Care Home Life
Our wonderfully appointed home benefits from being set in secure, secluded grounds. The well-maintained garden contains a large decking area with pergola as well as a host of plants, raised flowerbeds and even our very own vegetable patch that is tended by some of our green fingered residents.
Our light, airy lounges are set up to provide superb social spaces for residents to mingle, make friends or take part in our varied activities. We also have dedicated quiet lounges, which are perfect for reading or relaxation. Additionally, one of our lounges is set up for use with our projector and screen - which is ideal for our cinema evenings and group sessions on the internet.
Active lifestyles and Companionship
Our award winning dedicated Recreation and Leisure Co-ordinators manage to schedule around 80 hours of activities a week - meaning there's always a range of mentally engaging and physically stimulating activities, trips and clubs for our residents to take part in as much or a little as they like (although, with our staff as infectiously enthusiastic as they are - it's hard not to get involved!)
Our outside activities range from outings like “Fish 'n' Chips Fridays” and trips to heritage sites to visits to local schools, where the residents have the opportunity to teach knitting, art and other skills to the school children. School groups also often visit the home to provide entertainment or just hear about how times have changed. We regularly get involved in the Grantham carnival and enjoy our position as a fundraiser in the community.
In the home we enjoy “Take-Out Tuesdays”, where we all share in our favourite take away such as fish and chips. There are reminiscence workshops as well as “life story” activities, where residents build a full picture of their lives with the help of our Recreation and Leisure Coordinators. For a touch of pampering, we have an in-home beauty treatment and hairdressing salon. We also have a knitting circle and gardening club, as well as a host of other activities. Residents are encouraged to contribute ideas to be included in the leisure schedule.
Dining at Avery Lodge Lincolnshire
Our chef and his team take great pleasure in serving up exciting and varied menus for our residents to enjoy. We like to get feedback directly from the diners and often make changes to dishes, helping to ensure that our meals are perfectly tailored to suit the tastes of our diners.
All our tasty breakfasts, lunches and dinners are prepared with locally sourced, fresh ingredients. We have a great relationship with local butchers and other suppliers - and the residents even have a say in this; our butcher and grocer were selected by the residents after trialling several in the local area.
Residents are free to order food whenever they like, and the kitchen is always turning out treats, freshly baked snacks and nibbles. We can cater for any dietary requirements at Avery Lodge.
Specialist Dementia Care for Lincolnshire
Our dedicated Connect programme is designed to allow those living with dementia to have a fulfilling and independent life in an anxiety-free environment. As part of the Connect approach, we work closely with family in setting the needs and expectations of our residents, using residents’ unique life stories as a basis for engagement and stimulation.
In Touch with the Community
We know keeping in touch is vital to the wellbeing of our residents. As such, we provide free Wi-Fi and computer access throughout the home. For those not familiar with using computers, we have I.T. mentors visit us from local schools (and even an army cadets group!) to help residents get on-line, Skype and use email.
We are easy to get to as the home is set just off Beacon Lane in Grantham - around five minutes drive from the A1 and A52. If you would like to visit us, please feel free to pop in any time.
