Our care homes have been showing their true community spirit through a series of inspiring fundraising efforts.
Southbourne Beach Care Home in Bournemouth unveiled a beautiful mermaid tail sculpture as part of The Tiny Tail Trail, supporting Julia’s House Children’s Hospice. The charity provides essential care and respite for families of children with life-limiting conditions.
The sculpture was created by resident Penny, with support from Activities Assistant Kiera and Care Assistant Alex. “It reminded me of painting with my grandchildren, I’m proud our work will help others,” said Penny. The home has been fundraising since last summer, with a target of £750.
At Merlin Court Care Home in Marlborough, Admin Kelly O’Donnell raised nearly £1,200 for The Little Princess Trust by donating her waist-length hair in a special event. “I’ve wanted to do something like this for a while,” said Kelly. “The charity’s work really touched me.” Resident Christine, who helped cut Kelly’s hair, called the gesture “incredibly brave.”
At Chorleywood Manor Care Home in Chorleywood, Care Assistants Wendy Hunt and Charmaine completed the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 6th April 2025. They raised over £1,100 for
Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK, charities that reflect the care and compassion they bring to their daily roles.
In their ongoing commitment to charity, residents and team members at Chorleywood Manor are embarking on a 10-mile journey, crossing 10 London bridges, starting at Battersea Bridge and finishing at Tower Bridge to raise crucial funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital’s new children’s cancer centre. Join us in wishing them the best of luck on their fundraising journey.
