Train Spotting

Moving into a care home doesn’t mean leaving your previous hobbies and interests behind. When Kerry, Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator at Birchmere House Care Home in Solihull, found out that resident David used to enjoy watching the steam trains pass through Toddington Station when his father took him to the nearby sawmill, she arranged a very special adventure.

Along with fellow residents Eric and Mavis, they boarded the Foremark Hall steam train at Toddington Station, journeying three hours through the beautiful Cotswolds and enjoying a picnic on board along the way. Speaking of the day, David stated, “I cannot even begin to say how well organised this trip was. Kerry thought about every detail and even managed to deliver the sunny weather! From beginning to end, I was filled with memories and reminders of wonderful childhood days spent with my father. I couldn’t ask for any more than this.”
