Sherrie starts to sing at Birchmere House
Birchmere House Care Home, Solihull, had the pleasure of welcoming Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson to our Christmas Open Day.
We had an amazing Christmas Party; the home was decorated with fake snow, blow horns and party poppers, Disney Frozen themed balloons and a variety of Christmas hats! Sherrie was welcomed into the home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, given to her by the staff of Birchmere House.
Sherrie took part in our annual Birchmere House Christmas Quiz, and helped teams figure out the answers! The winning team, the Willet family, compromised of resident Michael Willet, his wife, Valerie, and his son and daughter-in-law. They were all delighted to have Sherrie at the home, joining in and talking to everyone.
The entertainer for the day was Charlotte Costello, who sang a Christmas Bonanza Concert and provided a Christmas Disco too. Sherrie and the residents spent time laughing, dancing and singing to Charlotte’s tunes, and staff also gathered around the grand piano with Sherrie to sing some Christmas carols for the residents.
Our Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator, Kerry Counihan, said “The day was a wonderful experience for our residents as well as visitors and the Birchmere staff. Sherrie was absolutely charming and she definitely lifted everyone’s spirits and got us all in the mood for Christmas.”
Sherrie really enjoyed her visit to Birchmere House, saying “I didn’t want to leave the festivities at the home, everyone was enjoying themselves so much!”
