Springwood Corner Care Home, a new state-of-the-art care home in Gravesend, officially opened its doors in June and welcomed its first residents.
The care home is located in the historic riverside town of Gravesend and represents a significant investment for the area.

Joan, aged 92, one of the first residents to move in, said the decision came after becoming unwell and struggling to manage on her own.
“I was living by myself, and it became too much. My son wanted to find something better for me, so we waited for Springwood Corner to open, and I’m so glad we did,” she shared. “It’s lovely here. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but now I feel settled and supported. My son visits every day, and even he says how impressed he is.”
For resident Ian, aged 84, who came to Springwood Corner for a short respite stay, the experience exceeded expectations.
“I’d been unwell, and my doctor suggested some respite. I came in for a tour, and I booked a four-week respite stay straight away. It’s not what I expected at all from a care home. It’s beautiful and the staff are so friendly,” she said.
Both residents highlighted the exceptional food and quality of care as standout aspects of life at Springwood Corner Care Home.
When asked what advice they would give to others considering a move to a care home, both residents were clear:
Ian stated, “It’s like a five-star hotel. The food is excellent and never boring! I couldn’t think of a better care home if you needed care.”
