Residents and Children Share Joy at Avonmere’s Happiness Party

Company News, Avonmere

On 24th March, Avonmere hosted a special Happiness Party, bringing together residents and local children for an afternoon full of fun, laughter, and connection.

The Well-being Co-ordinator at Avonmere, Beatrice Lush, invited the nearby Great Expectations Day Nursery to join the celebration, creating a unique opportunity for different generations to be together. The home has developed a strong relationship with the children from the nursery and greatly benefits from regular visits.

The party was led by Social Ability, a company that uses sensory and cognitive games projected through Avonmere’s happiness projector. Residents have long enjoyed the projector, and this event used it to help children and residents interact and build friendships. The aim is to offer a range of interactive sensory and cognitive games designed to engage both older adults and children.

Games like table tennis and balloon splat were enjoyed by everyone, creating an atmosphere filled with smiles and laughter.

“It was truly wonderful, I was having the time of my life,” said Margaret Peacock, one of the residents.

Samantha Baronian, Home Manager at Avonmere, commented, “I was filled with joy to see how happy both the residents and children looked during the party. We clearly made a huge difference to both communities.”

Nick, Manager of Great Expectations Day Nursery, added, “So many of the children were brought out of their shells during this event. It is lovely to see them growing in confidence and making friendships with the residents.”

The Happiness Party at Avonmere was more than just a fun afternoon; it was a celebration of community, connection, and shared joy that will be remembered by residents and children alike.
