Birchmere House Hosts a Joyful Bingo & Barfi Afternoon with the Solihull Sikh Community

Company News, Birchmere House

Birchmere House Care Home continues to shine as a hub of community connection and cultural celebration in Solihull.

The home recently hosted a successful bingo & barfi, a milk-based Indian sweet, afternoon for the Solihull Sikh Community. This is a quarterly event that residents, team members, and guests alike eagerly look forward to.

The afternoon was filled with laughter and friendship as attendees of all ages enjoyed a lively game of bingo with prizes, followed by a delicious spread of authentic Indian cuisine. The event was made even more special by a captivating performance from a talented classical pianist, who entertained guests on the home’s grand piano.

This heartwarming collaboration began two years ago, when Kerry Counihan, Senior Well-being Co-ordinator at Birchmere House, reached out to Sharon Kasbia, a leading figure within the Solihull Sikh Community. Sharon has worked tirelessly to support and bring people together through fundraising and the organisation of community events. Since then, this partnership has grown from strength to strength, building wonderful friendships and a shared sense of belonging.

Birchmere House is proud to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and community spirit, values that are deeply embedded within the home’s ethos. Events like these showcase how Birchmere House continues to bring people together, embracing cultures and traditions that make the wider Solihull community so special.

Plans are already underway for the next bingo & barfi afternoon, with Sharon and the Birchmere House team once again joining forces to create another memorable event.
