A Special Day for Lady Jane Court Resident, Colin, at Leicester Police Headquarters

Company News, Lady Jane Court

Lady Jane Court resident, Colin, had a wonderful day of nostalgia at Leicester Police Headquarters. Colin once served in the police himself, so the visit felt like a meaningful return to a place that shaped so much of his life.

PCSO Vince Preston welcomed Colin to the Headquarters, and the day began with an introduction to Chief Constable David Sandall, who greeted Colin before guiding him to the historical part of the building. This space brought back memories of earlier days in policing and offered a chance to reflect on how the service has grown while still honouring its roots.

Next, Colin enjoyed a well-deserved cup of tea and met Jake, a familiar face from the BBC series Fresh Cops. The two shared stories from their time in the force, one from years gone by and one from the present day, creating a lovely moment of connection filled with smiles.

A quiet stop in the memorial garden followed. Colin took time to pay his respects to those who had served before him and to remember the sacrifices made across generations. From there, he explored the control room where he met call takers and the on-duty inspector. He was fascinated by the modern technology and remarked on how different it was from the tools he once used. He recalled working with a typewriter and heavy radios, which made the contrast even more striking.

The tour continued with a visit to the dog unit and a look at the latest police vehicles. Colin enjoyed seeing how equipment and capability have advanced over the years.

Colin later shared that he felt overwhelmed in the most positive way. He said the visit had made him incredibly happy and that it was a memory he would hold close. He expressed heartfelt thanks to PCSO Vince Preston for arranging such a thoughtful experience.

It was a truly special day for Colin, one that celebrated his past service and reminded everyone that while policing continues to evolve, the pride and dedication behind it remain constant.
