A 90th Birthday Surprise for Percy at Hempstalls Hall

Hempstalls Hall

On the 27th December, Hempstalls Hall resident Percy celebrated a very special milestone as he turned 90 years old. To mark the occasion, the Well‑being team arranged a wonderful surprise that fulfilled his family’s wish of a live performance from a traditional bagpiper.

As Percy is from Arbroath, Scotland, the team wanted to create a celebration that felt truly meaningful to him. The sound of the pipes filled the home, and soon Percy, his family and fellow residents were joining in with Scottish dancing, singing and plenty of smiles. Percy especially enjoyed chatting with everyone who came along to share the moment.

After the entertainment, Percy gave a short speech to thank everyone for making his birthday so memorable. He then posed for a series of lovely photos, which now take pride of place in his bedroom as a reminder of a day filled with joy and music. Reflecting on the celebration, Percy said, “It was such a surprise and so lovely.”
