Held each year on 21st March, World Poetry Day celebrates poets, promotes the reading, writing, and teaching of poetry, and raises the visibility of poetry in the media. In celebration of World Poetry Day, residents at Knowle Gate Care Home in Knowle, Solihull were joined by John Liversuch, who visits weekly for an exercise session. John shared some of his own poems with residents before the session, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Afterwards, the Well-being and Activities team spent time one-to-one with residents, reading some more poetry together. Speaking of the day, resident Jenny said, “I loved hearing the poem called ‘Playing Out’. It brought back happy memories of getting up to mischief with my friends.”
