Stuart Perry Wins the Nottingham Post Special Recognition Award!
Plumbing, daily checks, painting and decorating – just some of the duties falling within the remit of any Maintenance Person working in a care home. Supporting on day trips, organising ‘Residents wishes’ and cooking at barbecues, on the other hand, tend not to be part of the job role, unless you are Stuart Perry, who is by no means just ‘any Maintenance Person’!
Stuart, who joined Acer Court Care Home in October 2014, has become an integral and popular member of our team, so we are very proud to announce that Stuart was the very deserving winner of the Special Recognition Award at the Nottingham Post Care of the Year Awards 2018!
The Nottingham Post Carer of the Year Awards offers a chance for the genuine unsung heroes and heroines in the caring sector to be recognised. The competition, in its third year, welcomed numerous amazing stories about the selfless carers in Nottinghamshire who have gone above and beyond to help others. This year the glittering awards ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and hosted by BBC Radio Nottingham’s Mark Dennison, providing the perfect opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to carers from all different walks of life. The Nottingham Post even described how, despite recovering from surgery on his vocal chords, Stuart’s caring side made him a favourite of everyone who attended the awards.
The Special Recognition Award is given to an individual’s selfless achievements. Stuart regularly goes above and beyond in his professional duties, from surprising residents with craft boxes to organising a convoy of 150 bikers to fulfil resident Ken’s wish of riding a motorbike through the Derbyshire Dales and having a ‘wheelie great time‘.
He is well respected and admired by many in and out of the home and to evidence that here are just a sample of the comments we regularly see posted on our Facebook page:
“A real treasure, always the best bloke.”
“You are such a nice man which is why my Dad likes you so much. Thank you for all you do.”
“Well done Stuart. Thank you and all the staff for making my Dad’s wish come true. He was totally blown away. You do an amazing job”.
“On behalf of our residents, we cannot thank Stuart enough for his dedication, generosity and commitment. He is irreplaceable.”
Congratulations on this fantastic award Stuart! You truly deserve it.
