Scholars Mews Care Home in Stratford-upon-Avon recently hosted a delightful Spring Fair, bringing together residents, families, and the local community for a day of fun and celebration. The event also marked the official unveiling of the home’s newly opened Verona Suite, adding a vibrant new living space to the care home.
The Spring Fair was attended by the Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon, who enjoyed meeting residents and their families. Speaking about the event, the mayor said:
“As Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon, it was a delight to visit Scholars Mews’ Spring Fair. It was lovely to meet residents and their relatives, along with the dedicated staff. It was a very successful event, and it certainly made my day attending.”
A Day of Festivities, the Spring Fair featured a variety of activities, including a charity raffle with generous prize donations from local businesses, which raised an impressive £300 for Myton Hospice, a charity chosen by the residents. Visitors also enjoyed handmade crafts, delicious home-baked goods, and an array of local artisan stalls selling unique jewellery, cards, and trinkets.
Entertainment was also a highlight, with live music from a talented singer, much to the delight of the residents and visitors alike. Families had the opportunity to tour the Verona Suite and see the latest addition to the home, designed to enhance residents’ comfort and social engagement.
Home Manager, Louise Martin, expressed her joy at the success of the event, saying:
“We had a wonderful day with lots of support from our local community. It was lovely to see so many people visit our new Verona Suite. The home looked beautiful with all the springtime colours of bunting and balloons, and our residents thoroughly enjoyed the live entertainment.”
Resident Kyra Wills shared her excitement about the event:
“It was lovely to have so many people, family, and friends come to visit the fair. The stalls were beautiful, with lots of nice things to look at, and the tombola was so much fun to play!”
Introducing the Verona Suite, the addition of the Verona Suite brings fresh energy to Scholars Mews, enhancing social opportunities for both new and existing residents. The suite is named in tribute to Shakespeare’s famous play, Romeo and Juliet, reflecting the home’s Stratford heritage. Scholars Mews continues this literary theme, with each suite drawing inspiration from Shakespeare’s works, including Midsummer and Venice.
The Spring Fair was held to encourage community engagement, offering locals a chance to experience first-hand the warm and welcoming environment that Scholars Mews provides. The home remains dedicated to ensuring residents feel connected to the broader community while enjoying a fulfilling and enriched lifestyle.
