Prostate Cancer Blood Test from Avery Healthcare
Northampton’s Avery Healthcare, with 5 care homes in the county and the home of its nationwide Group Support Centre, is subsidising Prostate Cancer PSA blood tests this November.
Working alongside the Northampton Prostate Cancer Support Group, the blood tests will be available by appointment only on 12th November 2022, 10am-1pm at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club.
The prostate is a small gland in the pelvis and is part of the male reproductive system. The causes of this cancer are largely unknown but the chances of developing prostate cancer are higher in men aged 50 and older. The prostate cancer PSA blood test measures the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood.
Many prostate cancers grow slowly and are confined to the prostate gland where they may not cause serious harm, however, other types are aggressive and can grow quickly. Early detection is the key to successful treatment.
As a local employer in the area, Avery is pleased to offer this test to gentlemen over the age of 40 years. To book an appointment go to PSA Testing @ GFCT – GFCT (mypsatests.org.uk)
