Mayor of Wandsworth Honours Staff at Dementia Action Week High Tea Event
As part of Dementia Action Week, Wandsworth Common hosted a high tea event at the home, which included an informative awareness talk by Dementia Care Manager, Narcis Mihailescu, and a surprise special guest.
The Mayor of Wandsworth, Juliana Annan, attended the event and presented staff at Wandsworth Common with a certificate to say thank you for all the invaluable work they do to care for their residents.
The Mayor started her career as a carer and was able to relate to how much patience, understanding and dedication to quality care goes into looking after our residents every day.
At the event, Desire’ Jackson, Hospitality Manager, and Amer Claffey, Wellbeing and Activities Supervisor, were blown away when presented with a pin badge, on behalf of Wandsworth Council, during the memorable occasion as a token of appreciation for the vital role they both play in ensuring excellent care throughout their residents’ journey whilst at Wandsworth Common.
As she smiled ear to ear, Desire’ shared her thoughts on the experience. She said, “It was beyond amazing, and we both were just in shock as it was totally unexpected.
“The whole event was an afternoon to remember and a first-class way to launch our Avery #OneFamily Friday afternoon socials. The Mayor of Wandsworth was so lovely and treated all our residents and team members with the upmost respect and kindness.”
Residents Rosie, Susan, and Sir John, who had been an MP in his younger years, were amongst the many attendees to spend time with the Mayor of Wandsworth, with Sir John expressing his gratitude by sharing with her that “she is doing a great job.”
This is an incredible start to their weekly #OneFamily Friday afternoon socials, with many more planned for the coming months!
