Jo Crossland ‘Supporting People with Dementia’ Webinar
In support of The Care Workers’ Charity during Professional Care Workers Week, Jo Crossland, Avery Healthcare’s Head of Dementia Care, held a webinar on supporting residents with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Professional Care Workers Week, which ran over the start of September, sought to bring light to the outstanding work carried out by social care workers this year, particularly during the pandemic.
In the webinar, Jo touches upon the background of supporting residents with dementia, how the pandemic has impacted them, and what we can expect to see in the future of the care sector. Has 2020 changed the face of social care forever?
Jo also talks about the impact the pandemic has had on families of residents living with dementia in care homes; including issues like separation, increased alone time for their loved ones and social distancing requirements.
Throughout these challenging times, Jo reminds us that care staff in Avery homes have continuously been crafting new and innovative ways to support residents living with dementia, keeping them active, social and happy in their everyday lives. These include the introduction to garden and socially distanced indoor visits, and virtual catchups with families via Skype or Facetime.
